Are Wireless Burglar Alarms Right For You?

Although there are many different types of wireless burglar alarms available in the security market today, these can be placed into two main categories. Theses categories include the one which has only bells or the one which is monitored by an outside security company.

With the bell version, this will be triggered when someone moves past one of the sensors. This will inform the intruder that they have been detected and need to get out of the property as soon as possible. On the other hand with a monitored system, the alarm activation does not take place at the property. Instead it is sent through to a monitoring center by sending a signal down the phone line. Once a center has received such a signal, they will then monitor the system further. If more than 2 sensors are activated within the house, they will then inform the police so that they can respond to the situation.

A wirefree burglar alarm system can be activated using either a key or a keypad. Certainly most of the systems I have come across in recent years have always been activated using a keypad. So it is important that if you find it difficult to remember numbers, you have a system installed which uses a key rather than a keypad. You can either have a wirefree burglar alarm system purely for detecting intruders into your home or one which will detect fires or carbon monoxide as well. There are even some systems which will omit a small peep should either a door or window be opened by mistake. This could be extremely useful for those parents who have young children and who are likely to decide it be nice to go on an adventure to see the world outside their home without their parents knowing. Even very young children have wandered away into the cold. Such a "peeping" notification could have saved much trouble.

The actual cost of wireless burglar alarms depends a lot on the type of system you have installed. If you decide to go for the one with is all whistles and bells, and that also comes with 24 hour monitoring for everyday of the year, then this will set you back a lot more than if you bought a do it yourself (or DIY burglar alarm) one instead.
